With over 650 years of stories, this historic inn has seen it all. Imagine the tales the walls could share: Queen Anne and the Archbishop of Canterbury are said to have stayed here, and the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin once evaded capture by hiding out within these walls. During the Civil War, the building even served as a hospital, treating wounded soldiers. And with its storied past, it’s no surprise that two ghosts are said to make their home here—though they prefer to stay in the background.
