About
Serving locals and travellers since the 1500s, The White Horse is one of Britain's oldest inns and with its thatched roof, oak beams, log fires and warm welcome, is probably one of its most beautiful as well. It was certainly our olde-worlde character that caught the attention of JK Rowling, who wrote about us in her Lethal White books from the Strike series, which have been screened as a BBC series - with us included, too, in a number of scenes. Thomas Hughes of 'Tom Brown's Schooldays' fame is said to have written his books here too! With our beautiful location, can there be anywhere better to enjoy great food & drink in the great British countryside? We don't think so! Handmade in our fantastic, garden pizza oven, we fire up every Thursday and Sunday - booking advisable! The White Horse is perfect for those who enjoy walking and exploring the visual delights of the nearby White Horse Hill, the Ridgeway and other ancient monuments. We look forward to welcoming you! Please join us for a drink and a meal!
