Price for a pitch (one-night): £25 Stopping over for a night on a long M6 journey or searching for a Cumbria base from which you can explore the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks? Either way, Lea Field Shap is in an excellent location just outside the village of Shap. This small rural site is in an easy-to-reach spot just off the A6 and a couple of minutes’ drive from Junction 39 of the M6 putting it in a most convenient spot for either a single night or a longer break. The village has a small supermarket, a café and a couple of pubs to help you sort easy meals and drinks. The pitch area here is nicely spacious, but guest numbers are kept purposefully low to make sure there’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the fresh air and rural views. You’ll have access to electric hookups, fresh water and a waste disposal point, and you’re welcome to set up a gazebo or awning for a bit of extra shelter. There’s a nicely laidback atmosphere on site, with kids and dogs welcome and campfires and barbecues permitted as long as you’re careful with them. Do note, though, that there are no toilets or showers on site so you’ll need to be self-sufficient on the bathroom front.
