About
Discover where the past meets the present at Samlesbury Hall, one of the most stunning stately homes of Lancashire, a haven for history lovers and a fantastic family day out. What will you discover?
With seven centuries of history to explore, Samlesbury Hall offers guests of all ages a day to remember. A visit to the historic mansion includes three floors of rooms including the Victorian Kitchen, The Great Hall, The Ghost Room and The Witch’s Garret.
The grounds include a Rosarium and the Fountain Courtyard which are set among lush green lawns, flower beds and ancient trees. For the younger ones there is our Mayflower Playground for active play.
Enjoy a splendid lunch at The Garden Room Eatery or enjoy a hot cuppa over a scrumptious selection of home baked cakes, scones and traybakes in Maria's Tea Room. There are also some super savouries, including scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pies.
We are famous for our legendary tours. Our team of entertaining and engaging Tour Presenters include TV presenter Jason Karl, ghost hunter Paul Howse and paranormal historian Joanna Walpole. Occasionally there may be no tours available due to other activities taking place inside the hall, so please check our social media announcements or give us a ring prior to visiting. Guided Tours include staircases and cost £5.00 per person. Under 16’s are free of charge. Please buy your tour tokens at Reception.
Samlesbury Hall is reputedly one of the most haunted houses in Great Britain, with 13 different ghosts which haunt the historic manor and the grounds around it.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there have been many hundreds of reports from guests, staff and former inhabitants of the house which date back centuries. Our ghosts are not a contemporary fabrication, but a genuine heritage of haunting encounters. The first published account of ghosts at Samlesbury Hall dates back to a book written in 1873.
