About
The Anchor Inn at Hathern is a Grade II listed building, first built in the 18th century as a coaching inn thanks to its position on the A6, the main route to London from Derby and Manchester. For centuries it served as a welcoming stop for travellers, traders, and locals alike.
Over the 19th and 20th centuries, the inn underwent a number of changes, but much of its historic character remains — from its original three-storey frontage to the slate-roofed brewery buildings at the rear.
The Anchor brewed its own beer on site until the mid-20th century, and before the First World War, its ale was delivered by dray around the village.
Today, the Anchor continues to honour that long tradition of hospitality — a true village pub with a story poured into every pint.
We also have a play area for children and a bouncy castle!
